The Lakeland Civic Theater presents "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar WildeThe stage has forever been a place where political issues have not only been examined but completely dissected and satirized.
A brilliant blending of farce and morality, this play explores hypocrisy and human frailty in both politics and society. Each character looks back in time, longing for a chance to regain their morality. Having exploited government secrets early in his political career, main character Sir Robert Chilton is threatened with blackmail and the ruin of his career. He learns that "no man is rich enough to buy back his past."
Where society and politics begin and end is the question.
