2008 - 2009 Scholarship
Guide
Introduction
The Lakeland Foundation is a public, non-profit
corporation established to enhance educational
opportunities for Lakeland Community College
students. Its purposes are to solicit and
receive gifts of money, securities, bequests,
and property and to hold and distribute these
resources as may be deemed best for the promotion
of excellence in programming at Lakeland
Community College.
The Lakeland Foundation's goal is to provide
scholarships and grants for deserving full-
and part-time students of all ages by establishing
endowments and scholarship funds. Individuals,
families, clubs, corporations, foundations,
alumni, academic departments, and other organizations
fund these endowments and scholarships. The
Financial Aid Office (FAO) of Lakeland Community
College administers all scholarships, grants
and loans. The FAO coordinates and administers
a comprehensive program of financial assistance
for Lakeland student's that includes federal
and state programs as well as those provided
by The Lakeland Foundation.
In addition, gifts to The Lakeland Foundation
support a broad spectrum of programs for
which local and state subsidies are not available.
These programs are vitally important to the
quality of education and services provided
by Lakeland Community College.
Because scholarship availability, application
deadlines, and award amounts change frequently,
this Scholarship Guide should be regarded
primarily as a reference guide and not as
a binding document.
