In May, 2006 the AQIP Steering
Committee held a retreat with key institutional stakeholders.
The Lakeland Faculty Association and Lakeland Staff Association
Executive Committees and the President’s Cabinet
were brought together to accomplish three major goals:
· Identify a theme and related representations
that would serve as Lakeland’s designation for AQIP.
· Identify communication strategies that would
maximize enthusiasm and increase employee participation
· Identify realistic incentives that would increase
participation and enthusiasm so that everyone’s
voice is heard
The AQIP logo for Lakeland
Community College is a compass, signaling our theme of
“Charting our Future.” North is “LakelaNd”,
our North Star and focus. South is “Student Success”.
East is “Excellence”, and West is “Working
Together”. Each of the compass points represents
an essential element of why we believe the AQIP continuous
quality improvement model represents the best way for
a college to honor its past and to provide the best possible
education for its current and future students.
All Lakeland AQIP correspondence
features the theme and logo. Banners were hung across
campus for recognition among stakeholders. A Lakeland
AQIP webpage and e-mail address were created for communication
with all constituents.
Numerous educational sessions
were held as are reflected in the “presentations”
section of the webpage. College employees participated
in surveys, conversations, gallery walks, town hall meetings
and a vote to ensure that everyone had an opportunity
to express their thoughts. Together we will chart a course
of continuous quality improvement.
