AQIP at Lakeland Community College

In July 2006, Lakeland was approved to participate in the HLC’s Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP).

AQIP is an alternative process to maintain accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission.

As an AQIP institution, Lakeland will strive for continuous quality improvement in everything we do. AQIP’s Nine Categories outline a course of excellence which we will follow:

  • Helping Students Learn,

  • Accomplishing Other Distinctive Objectives,

  • Understanding Student’s and Other Stakeholder Needs,

  • Valuing People, Leading and Communicating,

  • Supporting Institutional Operations,

  • Measuring Effectiveness,

  • Planning Continuous Improvement,

  • and Building Collaborative Relationships.
The AQIP logo for Lakeland Community College is a compass, signaling our theme of “Charting our Future.” North is “LakelaNd”, our North Star and focus. South is “Student Success”. East is “Excellence”, and West is “Working Together”. Each of the compass points represents an essential element of why we believe the AQIP continuous quality improvement model represents the best way for a college to honor its past and to provide the best possible education for its current and future students

June 2012: We look forward to welcoming a review team from the Higher Learning Commission, September 18-20 who will be on campus to conduct a Quality Checkup Visit, a requirement to be accomplished prior to our re-accreditation review later this year.

Together we will chart and “stay the course” of continuous quality improvement.
