Photography of Mammals and Vertebrates

As a photographer I loved national parks and large game mammals. Somewhere along the line I became interested in shrews. To photograph these mammals I had to adapt to a nocturnal mode and learn to circumvent shrew reflexes--they hear mirror mechanisms and jump away before shutters open. I employ photoelectric beams and an electronic shutter for fast animals now. The bat photograph was taken at night on top of a restaurant while patrons ate below. The diving water shrew image may be the only one available--I can't tell you how many hours I invested in this single image.
