Last spring was a good year to schedule a spring break trip to desert areas due to abundant rain. Although I was early for cacti in bloom there were a multitude of desert wildflowers. The california poppy is one of the favorites and you can see why. I took a close-up with a macro lens and used flash to soften shadows cast by sunlight.
