I have been lucky to be able to frequent the forests and bogs of the Itasca Park area in Minnesota. Some of the rarest of orchids occur in these habitats. Due to habitat destruction, they are increasingly more difficult to find. The small ram's head orchid is easily overlooked. This is as close as you can get with a macro lens. Supplemental flash was used for lighting.
