Anticipation and patience can be key in obtaining a good wildlife shot. These trumpeter swans were sitting quietly along a river in Yellowstone Park so I waited. With backlighting I knew the best image would be one with wings extended. As the bird reared and flapped its wings, a fast shutter speed with a 300mm telephoto lens enabled this image.
