Macrophotography at the extreme! You are looking at a wasp that is only 1 mm in length. The magnification I used in my system was equivalent to 18X. Depth of focus is less than 1mm and light loss in the camera system is substantial. Patience and practice helped immensely but an image like this is all about specialized technique. The camera was equipped with dual flashes, extension, a special lens, and teleconverter. I also had to be within a half inch of the wasp to find focus.
