Telecourses
Telecourse offerings can be viewed from the
Course
Schedule. After selecting the semester you are interested in, on the next Class
Schedule Search page select "Telecourse" in the
"Session: " box.
Telecourses are
Television-based instructions comprised
of video programs, a textbook and a study
guide. You can watch the segment of the
course during its regular broadcast
time or you can set your video recorder at home
and watch it at your leisure. You can
even purchase the videos in DVD format
at the Lakeland Bookstore for an instructional
fee of $30.00.
Technical
requirements to take a Telecourses are
a
television and a DVD Player. The
course instructor will provide you with
the
program schedule
for your class, and the News Herald publishes
the Lakeland Cable Network regular broadcast
schedule. LCN Telecourses programming is
on Time Warner/Adelphia (Channel
21), and on
Time Warner/Comcast (Channel
98). Check
for Channel info and availability in your
exact area in TV Guide.
For
those students who do not have a DVD or who do not receive the cable broadcast,
programs can also be viewed at these

Courses
Online
Course offerings can be viewed

the
"Session: " box.
Online
courses are offered through the
Internet, based on a learning management
system called Blackboard.
The instructions and communications take
place primarily online via a Blackboard
course site and Emails. Students can study
the course materials and conduct learning
activities anytime, anywhere as long as
they have Internet access. For detailed

MINIMUM
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Note that these are minimum requirements. Bb will run, but not very well. The more RAM, disk space, and processing speed you have, the better your online experience will be.

17" Monitor with 800x600 resolution (1024 x 768 preferred)

Windows 2000 or better (XP preferred, some Vista users have reported problems)

Courses
TeleWeb
offerings can be viewed from the

"Session: " box.
TeleWeb
Courses are online courses
that require video programs as supplementary
learning materials. Students can watch
the programs broadcast via Lakeland
cable channels just like the Telecourse
videos. You also need to access the
instructions and communicate online
through a Blackboard course site and
Emails.

TeleClassroom

TeleClassroom
course offerings can be viewed from the

Schedule Search page select "Lakeland
East Madison" in
the
"Session: " box.
TeleClassroom courses originate
from Lakeland's Smart TeleClassroom on
the main campus, a fully equipped telecommunications
studio that encourages interaction between
students and teachers regardless of their
location. Faculty and students participate
in classes through a videoconferencing
system, exchanging information and ideas
during the scheduled class time. Students
at both the Lakeland and Madison campus
see the notes on the chalkboard, talk
with the instructor, and interact with
other students in real time in their
most convenient location.
