Healthcare constitutes a significant sector of the Northeast Ohio economy; the emerging need to transition to Electronic Health Records (EHR) is of paramount importance. As a result, the Region has aggressively pursued opportunities to train faculty, students, incumbent and adult workforce in EHR by working in partnership with regional employers to identify the core competencies required for such training. Evidence of this collaborative work is reflected in the Introduction to EHR course developed in 2010 which included: acute care facilities and in partnership with educators, encompassing Career Centers, 2 and 4 year institutions, and vetted by both employers and the College of St. Scholastica which developed the EHR software.
