The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention, enacted on October 28, 2000, went into effect October 28, 2002.  The law requires institutions of higher education to issue a statement advising the campus community where the law enforcement agency information provided by a State concerning registered sexual offenders may be obtained.  It also requires sex offenders already required to register in a State to provide notice, as required by State law, of each institution of higher education in that State at which the person is employed, carries on a vocation, or is a student.

Sexual Offenders are required to notify the Sheriff of the County in which they will reside per the Ohio Revised Code, Section 2950.04.  The Lake County Sheriff’s Department informs the Lakeland Community College Police Department of sexual offenders that are registered in Lake County.  To view a complete listing of sexual offenders in Lake County visit the Lake County Sheriff's Department website and click on sexual offenders.  If you agree to view the website on the Lake County Sheriff’s webpage, you will be re-directed to the Ohio Attorney General's Website which contains Lake County Sex Offenders.   Additional information about an offender or the Sexual Offender Registration Program is a available by contacting Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Rohrbaugh (440) 350-5676, 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday

In addition, all persons convicted of violations under the laws of the United States or any other State substantially similar to an offense for which registration is required shall provide to the local agency all necessary information for inclusion with an Ohio County Sheriff within seven days of establishing a residence with the Ohio County.
