During New Student
Orientation, students and their guests will learn
about the various services provided by the College
to enhance their educational experience at Lakeland.
Students are given the opportunity to participate
in an interactive computer session, taken on a
Campus Tour led by our Student Orientation Leaders,
and also obtain their Student Identification Card.
Within small
groups, Student Orientation Leaders share “personal success stories” and
serve as a resource allowing new students and guests
to ask individual questions.
While sessions are open to all new students, specific
sessions are designed for special populations.
Sessions are divided into three types:
Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO)
Sessions are designed to assist new students who
are currently in high school. Students who attend
the PSEO Orientation are able to pick up their
books following the Orientation Session.
General
Sessions are designed to assist new students who
are out of high school and typically between
the ages of 18-24.
25+
Sessions are designed to assist new students who
are typically over the age of 25 and beginning
college for the first time or returning to college
after several years away.
All new students attending Orientation are encouraged
to bring a guest with them to the session. Guests
may be a parent, spouse, child, friend or significant
other. Bringing a guest can make the experience
of starting college less intimidating and provides
new students with someone in their life who can
support them in their academic progress.
Orientation sessions
occur in July/August before Fall Classes begin
and also in January before Spring Classes begin.
