LAKELAND NOTICES

smart safe strong

The safety and well-being of our students, employees and campus community is a top priority. Our guiding principles are to: follow guidance from federal, state and local health experts (Lakeland Smart); accept social responsibility for the safety of ourselves and others (Lakeland Safe); and adapt to change with empathy and creativity (Lakeland Strong).

COVID-19 Response

The college complies with CDC guidelines for wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its variants. Masks are recommended for employees, students and visitors when the Lake County transmission rate as reported by the CDC is High. See the guidance documents listed below for additional information about masking, prevention, exposure, isolation and testing.

Monkeypox

CDC is tracking an outbreak of monkeypox that has spread across several countries that don't normally report monkeypox, including the United States. The monkeypox virus is spreading mostly through close, intimate contact with someone who has monkeypox. You can take steps to prevent getting monkeypox and lower your risk during sex.

CDC recommends vaccination for people who have been exposed to monkeypox and people who are at higher risk of being exposed to monkeypox. If you have any symptoms of monkeypox, talk to your healthcare provider, even if you don't think you had contact with someone who has monkeypox.

Influenza Flu

CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. Take everyday preventative actions to help stop the spread of flu viruses. Avoid close contact with sick people, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, cover your coughs and sneezes, and wash your hands often with soap and water.
